Today Sal’s director Nick forwarded me onto some contacts who I will be looking to interview surrounding begging bylaws. These contacts were people from Lifewise.
I did some research and it turns out Lifewise is an organisation that aims to help vulnerable people. They provide services such as “Lifewise Hub” which helps homeless people get back to lead independent lives. This “Lifewise Hub” can be found on K Road (coincidentally). They also run Merge cafe which gives a place for homeless people to eat. (I would like to note that this was going to be my news story but I have discovered that TV One News has already done a news story on Merge).
Through these contacts I hope to ask:
-their opinion on the begging bylaw that has now been put in place and its effects
-opinion on charities vs. begging vs. freebies
-their thoughts on Sal’s good deeds
Lecture Question 1: Week 8 – Audiences
Who is my audience and why?
Due to my news story aiming to be about the begging bylaw, I believe my audience will be quite wide. I am thinking those around the age of 20, as these are the types of people who would seem to be up to date with this issue (Read on Twitter, Facebook, newspaper etc.)
How do they read news?
My audience would read news mainly online via Twitter and newspapers online. This is because they prefer portable news on their smartphones or tablets as it is easily accessible.
How will I address this?
I will continue to update my WordPress blog and post it onto Twitter.
